Description
These 5”x 7”, hand cut and hand sanded poplar boards are my favorite size for panel encaustic painting. They hang very nicely when framed but are still just small enough to display on a standing easel. They take encaustic gesso nicely or a glued watercolor paper. If I gesso I use three coats, each coat applied in a different direction and dried between coats then lightly sanded. I most often use 140 pound watercolor paper applied to the panel with rubber cement, first applied to each surface then dried before pressing together.
